Reasons to Seek Chiropractic Care at the Onset of Pain

Seeking chiropractic treatment at the onset of pain, can minimize damage to the body, reduce the risk of needing invasive medical treatments, and help patients return to their normal lives quickly.

It is difficult for those experiencing the beginning stages of pain to admit it may be a chronic or systemic condition.  If the pain persists it can begin to manifest into other areas and pain levels can become more intense.

Conventional Treatments

One of the best reasons to seek chiropractic care at the onset of pain is to avoid traditional treatments. Since conventional medical treatments tend to be more invasive and have more side effects, many people choose to avoid that avenue. In addition, when conventional medical solutions fail, it can result in an escalating cascade of invasive interventions. Conventional medical treatments for some painful or orthopedic issues include:

  • Rest
  • Physical therapy
  • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)
  • Prescription pain medication
  • Steroid injections
  • Surgery

Some of these, especially rest and physical therapy, complement chiropractic treatment. On the other hand, treatments such as surgery can have dramatic side effects. With the exception of surgery, most conventional treatments seek to relieve symptoms by reducing inflammation and stress on the affected area, but do not actually repair the injury.

Early Treatment

Early treatment can prevent long-term loss of function and reduced mobility in the joints. In addition, the patient's comfort and productivity continue to remain low until the issue is treated. Chronic pain is associated with a variety of other problems, including depression, anxiety, insomnia, and decreased immune response; treating pain early can prevent these problems.

If you begin to experience pain, cease activities that cause more pain, consider cross-training if you are an athlete, and make an appointment with a trusted chiropractor. Chiropractic treatment can be effective for joint pain, back painsciatica, strains, sprains, and headaches. A chiropractor may identify the exact issue using imaging such as x-ray, as well as the patient's report of symptoms and overall physiologic analysis.

In addition to performing adjustments, a chiropractor can help formulate a full recovery plan. This may include short-term steps such as rest, physical therapy, or deep tissue massage. It can also include long-term changes such as altering posture, altering form when exercising, losing weight, or a change of routine.

One advantage chiropractic treatment has over conventional treatments is that it addresses the root of the problem rather than just masking symptoms.  The results are long-lasting, and often times permanent. Although several initial treatments may be necessary, the results can last years.

How SouthEast Chiropractic Can Help

SouthEast Chiropractic: The Motion Centers has the mentality of focusing on getting patients back to a wellness state.  The belief that a whole and happy life can be attained through resolution of pain, rather than simply treating the symptoms, is one of the founding tenants at SouthEast Chiropractic: The Motion Centers.

Every patient is different and the pain endured will have varied causes and symptoms. SouthEast Chiropractic believes that a thorough initial examination and history are necessary to gain direction for treatment options and ultimately, pain resolution.  Implementation of various modalities, treatment options, exercises, nutritional assessments, and chiropractic adjustments may be a few of the courses of action taken by the doctors to help treat any given patient's pain.

The doctors at SouthEast Chiropractic offer free initial consultations and truly have the desire to see each of their patients living well and pain free.  You may schedule an appointment here or contact us at the Belmont or Gastonia locations.
